Honduras: mobilizations reminds us the 1st year of the military coup and the popular resistance
23-06-2010
Next Monday, June 28th, the civic and military coup in Honduras completes one year, as well as the Honduras’ people resistance. We’re sharing here the call to action made by our sisters from Honduras seeking the international community to keep in solidarity with the population of Honduras, who is still resisting and denouncing the visible faces and the responsible for the Coup d’Etat, as well as the violations of Human Rights of those involved in the resistance.
In their call, our sisters denounce especially the violence towards the women’s part of the resistance, that have participated actively in the mobilizations against the coup, and the persecution and repression of the young women that are collecting signatures for having a constituent that includes women’s, youth and vulnerable population rights.
They are also drawing our attention to the process, growing stronger and stronger, of remilitarization in the country and to the Porfirio Lobo Sosa’s government, elected in a highly questionable process, attempt of erasing history so that Honduras and the world may forget and forgive what happened in June 28th.
We join our voices to the call of resistance and we invite all of you to organize or join the social movements in June 28th in the protests in front of the Honduras and United States embassies.
No the Coup d’État, no to violence against women.
We’re all Honduras!
