One year after the murder of Bety Cariño: we demand justice!

27-04-2011
April 27 marks one year of the paramilitary attacks against the humanitarian caravan heading to San Juan Copala that resulted in the killing of the Bety Cariño and the Finish activist Jyri Jaakkola. The WMW in Mexico and several other women's groups denounce that so far no significant progress were made in the investigation of their murders. "None of the three levels of government has committed to solve the case, we have only heard empty promises and commitments. (...) The paramilitary groups clearly identified as perpetrators of the crimes against Jyri and Bety are free to ravage communities, mocking justice and acting under cover of impunity. "

In these days, our sisters in Mexico will be in various activities to commemorate our fallen comrades. "We call for solidarity and continue breaking the silence. Because our demand is again: Justice. Justice for the women murdered for being women, justice for the women killed by the power, justice for the women killed because of their struggle. Justice for Bety Cariño! "
