France : Feminist Demonstration under DSK´s Windows
Between 200 and 300 people demostrated last Sunday, at Place des Vosges in Paris, in order to express their anger after the IMF ex-president’s return to France, following the Nafissatou Diallo’s case.
After the call of different associations defending women’s right, among which the World March of Women, between 200 and 300 people demonstrated this Sunday, September 11th, under Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s windows, at Place des Vosges in Paris, demanding his non-return to politics. Today, the IMF ex-president hasn’t been cleared yet and women continue to press charges against him. Different feminist associations, but also the ANP (Anticapitalist New Party) and the Nafissatou Diallo’s support Committee participated to the demonstration.
According to Nelly Martin, spokesperson of the World March of Women in France, the demonstration was also an opportunity to “talk in the name of all the women victims of violence in France and all over the world and who never get justice”. According to feminist organizations, 98% of the rapes remain unpunished. In France, there are about twenty rapes per day and only 4 aggressors are recognized as rapists and condemned, according to statistics.
Another demonstration is planned for September, the 24th, in front of the Law Courts of Paris. The meeting is at 2pm; place Louis-Lepine (Ive). Tristane Banon, who also complained against DSK, announced that she would be present.
