Role and Members

The International Committee (IC) is responsible for the follow-up of decisions adopted by International Meetings, assuming a liaison role, ensuring information circulation and acting as a catalyst for the WMW in the different world regions, as well as following-up work done by the International Secretariat.

 

The IC is composed of elected representatives from different world regions, that meets twice a year and functions in a collective and horizontal manner. Committee members will share tasks. They are not only regional representatives but will politically accompany the WMW as a whole. IC members’ responsibilities for WMW international and regional activities is prioritised over and above responsibilities related to national activities.  


The IC (members and substitutes) elected during our 9th International Meeting, held in São Paulo, Brazil, in August 2013, are:
- Africa: Awa Ouedraogo (WMW Burkina Faso) and Sophie Dowllar (WMW Kenya). Substitute: Chaba Siny (WMW Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic)
- Americas: Emilia Castro (WMW Quebec) and Sandra Morán (WMW Guatemala). Substitute: Elpidia Moreno (WMW Cuba)
- Asia-Oceania: Princess Nemenzo (WMW Philippines) and Salima Sultana (WMW Bangladesh). Substitute: Françoise Caillard (WMW New Caledonia)
- Europe: Judite Fernández (WMW Portugal) and Yildiz Temürtürkan (WMW Turkey). Substitute: Clara Carbunar (WMW France)
- Arab World / Middle East: Souad Mahmoud (WMW Tunisia). Substitute: Khitam Khatib (WMW Palestine)
- International Coordinator:Graça Samo (WMW Mozambique)
