    - Conference on the culture of violence and violence against women: organized by the World March of Women on February 3, 8 a.m. - noon at CEPUC 1 - presentations by Shashi Sail of the World March in India, Diane Matte, World March Secretariat, and SuzyRojtman of the World March in France (under the overall theme of Affirmation of Civil Society and the Public Arena)

    - Conference on the solidarity economy: February 1, 8 a.m. - noon at PUC - Salao de Atos - presentation by Rosa Guillen, of the Network of Women Transforming the Economy (REMTE) in Peru (under the overall theme of Wealth Production)

    - Conference on Globalization and Militarism: February 4, 8 a.m. - noon at OSPA - presentation by a member of Women in Black in Israel, possibly a woman from the World March - to be confirmed (under the overall theme of Power, Politics and Ethics)


    SEMINAR (simultaneous interpretation in the four languages of the WSF)

    - A Feminist Alternative for Another World: February 1, 2 p.m. at PUC (room to be confirmed) - seminar organized by the World March - presentations by, among others, Nadia De Mond of the March in Italy, Sylvia Estrada-Cláudio of the World March in the Philippines and Diane Matte, of the March Secretariat.


    WORKSHOPS AND VARIOUS ACTIVITES

    - Workshop: Mujeres y Trabajo, Realidades y Propuestas para el Cambio organized by the Red Latinoamericana Mujeres Transformando la Economía (REMTE) and the World March of Women (Spanish workshop), February 2 and 3 in the afternoon, PUC, predio 40, room 202

    - International Tribunal against foreign debt - presentation by Marie-Frantz Joachim of the World March in Haiti, February 1-2, Vianna Auditorium

    - Presentations on the World March of Women in at least one workshop at the Youth Encampment


    World March of Women Participants in Porto Alegre

    Angole, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ecuador, France, Haiti, India, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Québec, Spain, Togo, March Secretariat.

    Diane Matte will represent the World March in a meeting of the WSF International Council that is being held January 28-29. We will also take part in numerous meetings of various social movements throughout the week leading up to the adoption of a joint statement by social movements. In addition, regional meetings will be organized during the week.

    Also the World March in Brazil is making a major effort to set up stands, distribute flyers on the March, etc. over the week. The stands will be both inside and outside the PUC and there will be women at the stands who will be selling and distributing various World March. The stand that is inside will be on the street "meeting place" the first alley behind the entrance door.
